I am so excited to share our updated living room space with you guys! This is one of the first rooms we finished when we moved in and unlike the rest of our house, I’ve barely touched it since, so i’d say it was long overdue for some upgrades. I’ve been on a mission for a while now to update this area to be more of an adult space with a West Elm vibe…but on a budget. It had to be kid friendly of course but we wanted a space where the kids could play during the day but at night everything could be put away out of sight. I was so excited when I found our matching coffee table and tv stand from Ameriwood because it fit perfectly with the style I was going for. I had looked high and low for similar pieces that wouldn’t break the bank but even my usual go-to’s like Ikea and Wayfair came up short. I ended up finding the perfect pieces from Ameriwood and they totally complete this space, not to mention they have tons of hidden storage for the girl’s toys, movies, etc. Bonus points that Brandon said they were easy to put together and he liked that they sent glue to secure the dowels.
One of the things I love about this room is the soft muted colors that carry through out. There are lots of browns and greys, my favorites so I was searching for pieces that fit in well with this color scheme. I was also looking for items that preferably went together in a set (because our last tv stand and coffee table did not) and that had a little bit of a modern seventies vibe to them. Another thing I loved about this set is how much more open it makes this space feel. Before this we had a much larger entertainment system that took up the entire wall and made the room feel smaller than it was. All in all I’m so happy with how this space is turning out, but like the rest of our home, it’s ever changing.
Next on the list for this room is finding a new wall color (let’s be honest, I’ll probably go with another variation of light grey), painting the trim white and replacing/upgrading the windows. Stay tuned for more updates to come!
